What to do, what to do, what to do?  Hum…  I know, acorns with faces!   I just wanted to do something that I, at least, have not seen before.  Well, maybe in I’ve seen it in some form of artwork but not in embroidery pattern.

Oh, and how do you like the new logo.  Kind of pokes you in the eye doesn’t it!

New Halloween Pattern at my Etsy store!

I met one of my clients in person last weekend. She had stitched up quite a few of my embroidery patterns.  I asked her if there were any other patterns she would like to see in my store and she said, “More Halloween Patterns!” 

I got busy as soon as I got home and designed up this cute Bat/Halloween sampler.  You can find this pattern at my Etsy store.

So sorry I am late with this month’s pattern.  I’ve been terribly busy what with winning awards and selling a butt load of art.  Greatness never rests (or maybe, no rest for the wicked, you choose). 

I didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted to do for this month’s pattern so I dug into my archive of old drawings.  What I found was an idea I had for a quilt.  This quilt will never be made, so I thought, “Why not”?   The birds are kind of modern-ish, but the “flowers” are based on a vintage quilt I saw a long time ago. 

I am very curious to see what you guys do with this image.  There are quite a lot of elements in which all kind of interesting needlework treatments could be used.

It’s been a while since I’ve done any needlework.  This piece is not really a quilt.  At least I don’t think it is. You see, it’s doesn’t have any batting.  It just has a top and a bottom.

This piece is a combination of applique and embroidery.  The appplique is hand done with no iron-on webbing.  I believe I used only two embroidery stitches, the running stitch and blanket stitch.

This piece is approx. 20″ x20″.  All layout was done by eye.

Spring is here. 

 Now comes the warm breezes, flowers, and hormonal animals  making  us very aware of nature.  And what animal do you think of most during spring?  The Giraffe!

 This should be a fun pattern.  It’s a hummingbird of no specific type, but if you want to make it saucy you can say it’s a Lucifer Hummingbird.  That’s a real bird.  Some extremely sharp scientist must of noticed how vicious these guys where and knew the they could not be of heavenly origin. 

Since I have been going to all these art/craft shows I have met a bunch of people that have shared hummingbird stories with me.  Many of  which where close to near death experiences for the humans simply because they forgot to refill the bird feeder.
