Valentine Quilt, Finished!

I hope you’re not tired of seeing this quilt.

It’s finished!  Like always, it’s all hand sewn, appliqued and embroidered.  The final size is aprox. 30″ x 30″.  The fabric is all cotton.

I love this quilt :) . It’s fabulous that you left so much of the white fabric visible, because the quilting on it really pops.

I took a beginner’s quilting class years ago and got so frustrated with how perfect the pieces had to be cut and pieced together; I haven’t pursued quilting since that class. (I cannot cut fabric straight or well, in spite of using a ruler or square, a rotary cutter, etc.) But this quilt makes me believe that I could quilt if I chose to do something like this; I want to reread your posts relating to this quilt and really pay attention to the details.

By the way, I love that you hand-quilt . . . I don’t get along well with sewing machines, so have felt that if I ever do pursue quilting (again) that I’d want to hand-quilt it (although I’d likely machine-stitch on the outer trim).

I love your quilt. You’ll get the book done – the writing in your blog is delightful. If however, you need inspiration, Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott is a great book about the writing process, actually about the creative process in general.

And you must include a chapter on the bra issue. I have been laughing – I once read a mystery where the heroine saved the day and caught the murderer by taking her bra off while still wearing her blouse. I’ve forgotten how she saved the day and caught the murderer, but I remember I loved it! Also had a friend – a lady in her 70’s – who took hers off while speeding down a Texas freeway in her giant Cadillac. And she was no B cup!
