Okay, here is what I have so far.

Thanks for the great response to my last blog regarding a possible book in my future.  You all have made it clear what you would like the book to be about.  Basically a book about the creation of art with a lean toward art quilts and a sprinkling of embroidery.  Also, included in the book should be tricks and cheats on color, design and composition.  Did I get it right?

Also, there is a cry for more Badbird embroidery patterns, in book form.  Your thirst for designs is insatiable, you greedy, greedy stitchers.

I have contacted a few crafters, that have books, to ask them what steps they took to get their books published.  If you guys have any tips PLEASE let me know.

And, finally, for those who offered to be guinea pigs and be my stitchers if need be.  I will keep you names and very well will take you up on your offer.  I only have two hands, which I guess is pretty normal, but I can only do so much stitching myself.

There was a great two-part feature for ‘writing a book’(including how to get it published) on Design Sponge awhile back, part of the Biz Ladies 09 series. Here is the link to Part 2(link to part 1 is within). I thought it was a great article.

and of course there is lulu.com where you can self-publish. :)

Would love your embroidery in book form. Sublime Stitching sells theirs in books but also in themed packets which I totally love. Either way…I LOVE your stuff!
Good luck with the book it sounds like it has great potential.

I have not taken any classes, but I have been stitching for over 10 years. I would love to be a part of your book and be a stitcher for you. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

I think your book idea sounds great! Different publishing companies that print craft books, such as Lark and Chronicle, (and word is C&T is now currently trying to develop a line of craft books more geared to the indie crowd, as well) generally have book proposal guidelines listed on their web sites. I think they are always on the look out for what’s hip and hot… and I think you’d be a great fit! Good Luck!!
(I also seriously think you should do a children’s book. Your illustrations are so freakin’ great.)

I check your blog all the time, but other than today, I don’t know if I have ever commented or not. If I have, it’s only been once or twice in a couple of years.

Anyway, OMG-you are writing a book! I cannot wait for it to be published! I almost wish I didn’t know this so soon, because I know it will be a long wait. lol!

However…I would LOVE to stitch some of your embroidery designs for you if need be! It would be an honor. I love to embroider and have even just started teaching kids. If you would like, I can send you some pictures of things I’ve done.

    Good luck with everything!

Omigoshomigosh! I haven’t been here in a while and just stumbled upon this! You need to puplish your greatness in non-netherweb form. I will buy 9 of them. And I will also oh-so-willingly be a co-stitcher with all the lovely ladies who posted above me :D
