Playing around.
I have given myself permission to play. I always have fun when creating, but sometimes I get caught up in my own “Style”. I need to play with new ideas.
I’ve been looking a Mandalas and Hexes. Even though I don’t believe in magic and the supernatural the idea of it is intriguing. I enjoy making up my own meanings or powers these designs might have. In my own world I rule, hah! so there.
I usually don’t do much filling in of areas when I embroider so I thought I would give it a go. First I did a real tight and clean fill stitch but pulled that out for a more textured fill.

Wow! I hope that one day I’ll be that good at using a fill stitch — it looks like the Long and Short stitch? Perhaps I need to use a heavier fabric. I don’t believe in the supernatural either, but I do find myself saying that certain animals, like albatrosses, look angelic. Thanks for sharing your art.

Love what you did, I think the feather just added the right touch to the black and brought it to life.

My first time leaving a comment, I’ve been looking at your blog for a little while. I really like your style, and your sense of humor! It’s great to break out of the routine and have a sense of play, your drawings always make me think that you do have fun doing just that. Keep having fun!

the feather is fantastic! I feel that if I just blow a little puff of breath it will float away…
