To the Bottom and Back, IV

Here are some images of the Grand Canyon while hiking down the South Kaibab Trail.

I like showing the actual trail.  I think it helps gives a idea of the conditions of heading down the canyon.

Please notice the steps.  They look pretty harmless, But let me tell you, they where made by Satan hisself.  Most of the steps are awkwardly higher and wider than normal stairs.  They are knee jarring.  Young or old, when you finish with these steps and stand your knees giggle up and down on their own accord.

Still think that it’s no problem?  Well try 7 some miles of it.  It is not good.

  I really hate these steps.

So true! Your knees do shake! Hiking the canyon was absolutely the worst idea I’ve ever had, but also one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done. I threw my 30 lb pack on the ground, collapsed and cried and the bottom (wondering how in the world I was going to get back to the top!). 3 days later, near the top, I handed my 30 lb pack to a friend, crawled the little bit that was left to the top, and promptly checked into a hotel room! Congrats on such a great feat! You did it!
