Labor Day my family went camping up on the Eastern side of the Sierra’s. We love it up there. One of the highlights of the Sierra’s is the gold mining town of Bodie.
Now, as you may know, everyone in the world takes pictures of Bodie. And, I’m sorry all you photographers, all pictures of Bodie look like everyone elses pictures of Bodie. I don’t care how beautiful the church is backlit by a beautiful orange sunset or how spooky a photo of the Cain house can look in sepia. Bodie’s just been photographed too many times.
Now that I have ranted. Here are my pictures of Bodie. I tried to see if I could come up with a different view, maybe something a little more personal.
Well, I failed. But it was still fun. Me and all those guys with the big lenses taking yet another picture of Bodie.

I’ve wanted to go there for a while, to bask in the primary source history.
Bodie is one of my favorite places in the world. We go every summer! It’s open all year round so when we get brave enough we’re going to go in the winter. (I’m just afraid of getting snowed in and becoming a cast member of our very own version of “The Shining”) I agree that a lot of photos from there are generic. Ironically, my man is a photographer, despite going every year, it is our mission to get at least a few unique ones.
