Kingfisher

Guess who got a book on Japanese woodblock prints!

You might have guessed how prone I am to influence.   Can’t help it, it just happens.

I saw a Kingfisher once.  It was perched over a canal waiting to reek havoc on some frogs I guess.

This is not a limited edition print.  You can find it at my Etsy store: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26013219

The Tiger

Monday, June 1st, 2009

The Tiger was fun to design. I have been trying to get more details  and different elements into my prints.  Looks a bit Manga’ish, doesn’t it?

For reference I used Japanese woodblock prints, and Chinese ads.  I also did a online search of “Tiger Kawaii” .  I wanted a cute tiger but I could not invision how to draw it.  I found a reference.  I wonder if you did the ” Tiger Kawaii” search if you would be able to guess which piece I found and was able to use for inspiration?  My tiger is quite different from the inspiration piece I found, but it did give me another way to look at a tiger that was very useful.
