So, trying to decide on this months pattern was hard for me. I just couldn’t come to grips with doing a Thanksgiving pattern. I thought pilgrim or maybe turkey, but I just couldn’t. Then I thought, hey I’ll go P.C. and doing a Native American design, but I’m not Native American so is that really P.C.. I finally went with a somewhat traditional sampler. It’s a bit folk artsy. I hope you enjoy it.

I am not so fond of traditional Thanksgiving images either and both my great grandmother’s were Cherokee…I just have a hard time with turkeys and so this is a much better design to me! Hopefully I will be able to make a quilt of all of these some day! Thank you for the wonderful free images, I am thankful for you.

My husband is Native American and we celebrate thanksgiving as a celebration of food and family. We enjoy the holiday and what its meanings are to us today and we try not to focus on what the meaning was when it started. Besides, if I am not mistaken the real thanksgiving was the beginning of October. The US gov changed the date several decades back to spur holiday shopping and boost the economy.
I love the design this month. I want to make some new Christmas stockings this year and I think that this would look perfect.

it’s gorgeous! i’m not into thanksgiving stuff either, mostly for political reasons, plus, it’s already over here! (you crazy americans with your late thanksgiving!!) it’s such a treat to see a non-thanksgiving craft idea in november, usually i just stop reading magazines and some blogs for the month! thank you, i can’t wait to stitch this one!
Even if it’s not “traditional”, I think it’s very autumnal! The plants make me think of spices and seed pods. The birds could be fat little European robins. Thank you!

I have just discovered your site, and LOVE the folk art bird and rabbit, as well as the bird sampler from November. I am teaching a group of women in rural Nicaragua to do redwork, and we are hoping to sell quilt blocks to US quilters to help the women keep their children fed and in school.
