I’m Teaching in Santa Cruz, CA!

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Everything is all squared away with The Crafter’s Studio, in Santa Cruz, California, so I will be teaching a class on making a quilt like my Black Rabbit quilt.  It’s for a whole weekend, Saturday Oct. 25 and Sunday Oct. 26, 1:00 to 6:00, both days.   It’s pretty intensive and should be lots of fun.

One of the cool things about The Crafter’s Studio is that they will have all the supplies, so all you have to do is show up!  The cost for the class is $150.00.  Not bad for 2 full crafting days including the materials!

Here is the new link to see info at Crafters Studio web site, and you can register there as well: Click here to link to the quilt class info page

I made up this flyer which you can print out.  The image at the top of the flyer is a sample of what the Black Rabbit quilt looks like.  We will be making a petite Black Bird quilt for the class.

The Crafter\'s Studio, Santa Cruz, CA  I just got back from a quick trip to Santa Cruz, Ca.

Sensing that I would be spending more time in Santa Cruz than I ever had before I began my search for all things crafty.  Santa Cruz has an organic, artsy feel about it so I figured that the prospects would be good.

Two Elephant Quilt

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Two Elephant Quilt by Andrea Zuill  This is the new quilt that I am working on.  It’s very small measuring 21″ x 38″.   This quilt has less design elements than most of my other quilts.  There is still a lot of work to do on this piece.   Besides finishing the applique in the upper right hand corner, I need to add the embroidery.

For the embroidery I purchased a rainbows worth of muted color thread.  Right now the quilt feels to matchy and I hope that adding the various colors of the embroidery thread that the quilt will pop.

Two Elephant Quilt Mockup  This is the original design that I put together in Adobe Illustrator.  I don’t always use the computer to design my quilts, but sometimes I like the instant satisfaction of not only being able to draw what the quilt will look like but being able choosing and changing colors with ease.  I sometimes have trouble picturing colors for my quilts in my head.  The computer helps me visualize how the colors may look.
