Yes, I love genealogy. I am also a history buff and spend a great deal of time studing early american history. Through genealogy I find how my ancestors fit into the American story. I have also found some interesting comparisons. My husbands stock is more puritan, where as mine is of the German and Irish backwoods people. For fun here is a comparison of my husband’s ancesteral home and mine. Enjoy.
My Husband’s ancesteral home in Grafton, Vermont. Several generations where born in this house.
This is the cabin of my GGG Aunt Martha Jane Huskey Ogle, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Her brother Peter moved to Gatlinburg with her and he is my GGG grandfather.

What a cute little love shack!

Love the comparison. My mom’s side was from Finland and they built a similar cabin in Michigan’s UP for 7 people. We’ve got photos too.
The white deer quilt is so great.
oooh how cool! does your husband have any type of dibs on that fantastic house?
We got to Grafton, Vermont 2 years ago. We had no idea in what condition the house might be in. When we arrived there we learned that a foundation had restore all of Grafton to it original colonial period, so all the colonial homes in that area are very much in demand. The Zuill house is in great shape and own by a local realestate agent.
Grafton is a gorgous place. It’s a very small village, and totally colonial.
There are galleries, restuarants and the historic Inn. It’s great for tourist, history buffs, and is in no way a tourist trap.
Also, we would love to own the house. I been keeping my eye on it to see if it comes up for sale.
Peter Huskey is also my GG+Grandfather. I have been to Gatlinburg to see the cabin he built for his sister. Great history!
