Time to Embroider; White Deer Quilt

I was sick last weekend, but not sick enough to keep me from working on my quilt.  I have now appliqued all the shapes to the background fabric.  The quilt now shows all 3 stages of my embroidery process, 1. Applique with no embroidery, 2. Beginning embroidery ideas, and 3. Final embroidered look.

Deer Quilt no embroidery

1.) No embroidery (besides the deer), just appliqued shapes.

2.)  This shows my basic embroidery ideas.  I almost just stayed with

this look.

3.) Final embroidered look.  The embroidery helps pop the existing colors

and adds more texture and rhythm.

Wow this looks great. The embroidery really makes a difference. Now I think I’m going to have to try adding embroidery to my applique project. Thanks for showing us how you’ve worked on this quilt.

One more question…are you using an embroidery hoop to do that?

  4. Andrea says:

Yes, I am using a embroidery hoop, a large one.
