I’m trying out some new ideas. I love aprons and I have a small collection of them. I don’t hang them up because I don’t want them to get dusty, but I like the idea of being able to hang up apron art. I’m also interested in using more texture in my work. Let me know what you think.
Like all artists I go through periods where it seems that all the creativity has been drained out of me. I have a few techniques that help me get back my vision.
1. Play. Sometimes I get too serious about my artistic vision. Do a stupid or silly painting, print, etc. Nobody has to see it, it’s just for fun.
2. Experiment. Try a different medium. I switch around from oil paints, watercolors, drawings, digital, fabric, mosaic and others. It helps keep me interested. (more…)
In February I will be having a show at Galleri Urbane in Marfa, TX. I have been having a bit of an art block, but it finally released this last week and I have already done 5 paintings! Once I get going the ideas just flow.

Many people know that I sell embroidery patterns in my Etsy store. But, I have received request for patterns that look like my own personal embroidered art. So, I will try to post a pattern, once a month, that is in a style that I would personally use for my own artwork.

My best friend Jean has 3 owl boxes on her property. An owl box is basically a nesting box, with four sides, floor and ceiling. One end has a door cut into it. Almost as soon as she put up these boxes into her trees, she had owls. They are beautiful barn owls. I don’t know about owls being wise but I do know that when I am in her driveway at night they like to yell at me. And, when the babys are out in her trees, learning to fly, they fight A LOT! They are very bossy, and slightly cranky all the time. But, gosh they are beautiful.
